Hi, this is Nicholas Larocci, the home source guy, president and owner of Source Development Inc., a residential and commercial construction company in Garnerville, New York, and this is how to repair hairline cracks in tile grout. Hairline cracks are caused by a few different reasons. Probably the most common, I would imagine, would be that the actual tile isn't set properly, and it's moving a little bit and causing the hairline cracks within the grout. Another possible cause is that while the original grout was being placed in the groove, it wasn't mixed properly, or there was some inconsistency in the mix. In other words, it was too watery, or maybe there was air leaving a void in the grout. Well how do we remove this hairline crack? Essentially you have to dissolve the grout using an oscillating saw or a hand saw to take out the grout joint. So we're gonna take out the grout joint using the saw, and we're gonna reinstall the grout. We're gonna mix the type of grout appropriate to the size of the joint, whether it's unsanded or sanded, and we're gonna apply the grout, in the groove, using a float or a finger if it's smaller applications. Make sure it's forced into the groove. The deeper the groove is that you've cut with your oscillating saw, the better, the better adhesion. So after that's done, we're gonna wait till it sets a little bit, wipe it off with a damp sponge, and we're gonna wait until that dries to a haze, and remove the haze. And this is how you repair hairline cracks in tile grout. This is Nicholas Larocci, the home source guy, president and owner of Source Development Inc., a residential and commercial construction company in Garnerville, New York, and we're helping you build a better life. We'll see you next time.
