Hello, my name is Janette Janero, and today I'll be showing you how to make it through the running portion of your volleyball tryout. For your volleyball tryouts, you're going to see two different sections. First of all, you're going to have your skill set, but you're also going to have a running component. For a volleyball, you have to have a really strong cardiovascular endurance and health. You can expect your volleyball coach to do line touches. Now, if you don't have the access to a gym, don't worry about it. You can go ahead and practice these drills on a sidewalk. First thing you want to do is locate the lines on the sidewalk. You're going to pick which one is going to be your starting position and you're going to stand right there and you're going to run up to the next line and come back. Once you decide how far away you want your lines to be, you can go ahead and mark them with a piece of tape. If you don't have any tape, don't worry about it, just grab a rock, it'll work just as well. Right now I've placed two lines, but you can have as many as five. What you're going to do is run up to the first line, reach down to the floor, touch it, run back to your starting position. Once you hit the starting position, keep running and hit the second line and run all the way back. If you have five lines, you would repeat this five times. Line touches will help develop your speed and your agility, not to mention increase your cardio health. All of which will help you make it through the running portion of your volleyball tryouts.
