Hi, I'm Orene Kearn, Image and Wardrobe Consultant. I am here in the beautiful Morning Glory Boutique in downtown Burlingame, California. Today, we are talking about how to wear a lapel pin. Lapel pins have been worn for hundreds of years. They're traditionally worn on the left side of your lapel. One of the reasons is that when you go to an event and they have name tags, the name tag goes on the right; when you shake hands, they can see the name tag this way and that's why they do it. But, you'll also notice that the Queen of England always wears her pins and brooches on the left lapel. It's kind of an interesting to look for. Regarding placement of the lapel pin, for women, you typically want to put the pin between the shoulder and the bust. However, the lapel may actually determine placement of the pin. For instance, this lapel and the angle of the lapel, I would love to put this pin right there. Generally, we will place the pin by laying the jacket flat on a table and see which works the best and pin it while it's flat. And there you have it, how to wear a lapel pin.
