Hey, everybody. I'm chef Mareya the Fit Foody, and you're watching the video series on how to eat cleaner. And today, I'm going to show you how to store your lettuce. Now you spend your hard earned green on the green and you want to get the most out of it. So by storing it the right way, you can get a week to two weeks more out of your lettuce than you normally would. And I'm going to show you how easy it is. So first I've washed the lettuce with the eat cleaner fruit and vegetable wash. And this helps to remove the stuff that you don't want to eat, but at the same time it helps to extend shelf life. So you're getting longer lasting lettuce to begin with. Then what I've done is I've dried it. So I have a great salad spinner, got my dry lettuce. If you don't have a salad spinner, you can pat it dry with some paper towels. And then I've got my BPA free plastic containers. I like these because they breathe well, and you want some air circulating through to your produce but without leaving it open. And that will help keep it lasting longer as well. So I'm just going to put my lettuce in here and I like to do small amounts in a container so I've got a few of them here. And what's nice about this too is you can just grab from it to make your salads, your sandwiches, everything that you make you can add lettuce to practically. And then I just top it off with another paper towel. And this is going to blot any extra moisture that might be in here. Moisture is the enemy of produce. When you leave water on there, it breeds bacteria, and it makes your lettuce limp and soggy. And that is not good to eat. So I've got my extra paper towel on here to sop up the moisture. And that's it. Put the lid on and you're ready to roll. When you've got all your vegetables prewashed and in these plastic containers in the refrigerator you'll find that your family eats more produce too. And we all love that. I'm chef Mareya, the Fit Foody. Have a wonderful day and here's to eating cleaner.
