Hi, my name is Chris Zeitler. I'm a fitness and wellness coach for True Body Movement. Today's topic is actually about how to adjust your calories as your workout progresses. When you're training you'll notice that as time goes by, the amount of calories to sustain your body weight will change. Typically you start to burn more calories as you get stronger. You tend to burn more calories as you work out consistently and what you have to decide is if your goal is to lose weight, you want to continue the exact same amount of calories that you started with. That way as you burn more calories you will actually lose weight. If your goal, however is to put on muscle and build strength, you probably are going to want to start to bring your calorie intake up, so probably adding more protein. One of the tools that I use is actually a protein powder in my smoothie in the morning to give myself a little extra boost, somewhere between 20 and 25 grams of protein in a protein shake can add a tremendous boost to a muscle building workout plan. Now on the other side of things maybe your goal is to lose weight and you want to continue to expedite the process. One of the ways to do that is to actually slowly continue to cut your calories. So that is the way to work on adjusting your calories as your workout progresses. This is Chris with True Body Movement. Good luck with your training and remember, please stretch and warm up with every workout.
