Hi, my name is Marija. I'm a mathematician and today I'm going to tell you how many edges and vertices an octahedron has. So an octahedron has 12 edges and it has 6 vertices. So an octahedron has 12 edges and it has 6 vertices. If you were to draw it it's going to look like two pyramids that have square bases that are just on opposite sides of each other. So I'm going to attempt to draw it for you but it might be a mess. So we're going to start with a square base and draw a pyramid going that way and then the other part of the octahedron is just going to use that same square base but the pyramid is going to go down so now my pyramid is going to go that way, that way, that way and that way. So hopefully you can picture that, it's one square base, a pyramid on top and then another pyramid on the bottom using the same base and if you're wondering why it's called an octahedron when neither of these numbers are eight. It's because it does have eight faces. My name is Marija and I just showed you how many edges and vertices an octahedron has.
