Hi, my name is Marija. I'm a mathematician and today we're going to talk about how to find the volume of a trapezoidal prism. So the formula is going to be B times H but in this case the b does not just stand for the base, the B stands for the area of the base of the trapezoid that's in your prism. So then you need a formula for the base of the trapezoid. So for base of a trapezoid it's going to be 1/2 base 1 plus base 2 multiplied by the height. So when we look at this trapezoid which would be the base of your figure, the height will obviously be we're going to draw an altitude down low so that's the height and then we're going to call this base 1 and we're going to call this base 2 and obviously we're adding them so it's commutative it doesn't matter if I call this one base 1 and this one base 2. So first calculate the area of the base of your trapezoid and then multiply by the height of your prism and that's how you're going to find the volume.
