Hi, my name is Barbara Brenseke, and I'm from Train For The Game on Long Island. Today, we're going to talk about heel dip exercises for abdominals. Strong abdominal muscles are important just for performing daily activities. They prevent back pain, they prevent injuries and they improve your balance. Heel dip is a new way to strengthen your abdominal muscles while providing the benefits of building the muscles in your legs. And all you need is a set of stairs. If you don't have access to stairs, then, any kind of bench will do. What you will do is put the balls of your feet in the edge of the step, raise your heels up towards the ceiling keeping your legs straight and bring your heels down towards the floor. Squeeze your abdominals tight and you will feel this. While heel dip is a new way to strengthen your core musculature, it isn't the ideal way to work your abdominal muscles. Combining heel dips with other core strengthening exercises will provide the benefits of working your entire abdominal muscles, such exercises as front planks, lateral planks or sit ups will be good to use for your abdominal muscles.
