Hi, my name is Barbara Brenseke and I'm from Train For The Game on Long Island. Today, we're going to talk about exercising over 70. It's never too late to start an exercise program, whether you're 50 or 70 years young. Studies have shown that exercising over 70 can decrease chronic injury and chronic disease and increase your quality of life. If you're over 70, the best exercise you can do is walk for a minimum of 30 minutes each day. There are other exercises that you can do including some mat work and stretch work to increase your muscle strength. Some basic exercises that you can do are straight leg raise, bent knee raise and bridging. Before you start an exercise program, it is a good idea to contact your physician to discuss any needs that you may have, any medications that you maybe on and anything that may get in the way of any exercise program that you're ready to begin.
