Hi, this is Dr. Tanya Kormeili, board certified dermatologist in Los Angeles, California. And today, we're going to talk about how to get rid of built up dirt on your skin. Well, the most important thing you should know, is that you can control how much built and garbage is building up in your skin. And you can start by doing makeup removal every single night. So, wash off your makeup every single night. And most importantly, use makeup or skin products that are not comedogenic. What does that mean? It is that, you do not occlude the follicles underneath the skin. So, they don't build up all that dirt, and you wash it off every night. Now, what if you do have a lot of build-up, how do we get rid of it? The answer, believe it or not, is not harsh scrubs. So, do not scrub your skin hard, do not use harsh soaps or chemicals, trying to get rid of that dirt build-up on the skin. The answer is, to use gentle exfoliation, and we can do that with a variety of products that contain vitamin A, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, azelaic acid, and a few others. That can gently exfoliate and clean out the pores. There are actually technologies that use sonic technology to be able to get rid of the extra dirt that builds up in your pores. So, there's a lot we can do, but most importantly we don't want to cause a lot of chafing and damage to your skin by being really, really harsh on it. So, be gentle to your skin, and take care of it, well. This is Dr. Tanya Kormeili, board certified dermatologist, have a great day.
