Hi, it's Dr. Elizabeth Lombardo, Clinical Psychologist and Author of the bestselling book, "A Happy You, Your Ultimate Prescription for Happiness." Today, we're going to talk about steps you could take to find opportunities in a career field. I'm going to give you three key tips on how to do this. The first one is to network and to understand that anyone with whom you would want to come into contact is a great person to network with. So, it maybe going to network meetings that are out there. But, it may also be simply interacting with people at your church or your gym or any club that you're a member of. Just starting to talk to more people who are out there in different career fields. Talk to them about opportunities, but, also about what's going on and, and what kinds of things do they do to see if there's an interest to you. The second thing to do is to volunteer. And you don't have to volunteer specifically in the career field, but volunteer where there's going to be an opportunity for you to potentially meet other people who are in the career field, particularly one that you enjoy. Look for ways to not only help others, but also to meet other people while you're volunteering. Now, this could be something like a fund raiser, volunteering at a fund raiser or maybe a walk or a run, that kind of thing. But, it's a great way to meet other people and to talk to them. The third thing is to talk to your friends and your family and your family's friends and your friends' families. Talk to people who you know or with whom you have some kind of connection and ask them what they do and ask them what it's like and then ask, "Hey, are there any opportunities available?" Or, what's going on in your company right now so that you can bet, get a better understanding of the potentials for any opportunities that might be opened. Those are your three tips to helping you find opportunities in the career field. I hope they were helpful. Again, I'm Dr. Elizabeth Lombardo, ahappyyou.com.
