Hi. This is Alan Hilsabeck Jr., registered interior designer and certified master kitchen and bath designer of Hilsabeck Design Associates. Today I am here at a master bathroom remodel we had just completed, here in South Lake, Texas. I'm going to sharing with you today ideas on designing your glass shower. Before designing a glass shower, one must determine first the level of privacy desired. This will determine the amount of glass and transparency to be used in the designing of your glass shower. If you're still worried about privacy using clear glass, you can install either an interior or an exterior shade. Once you have determined the level of privacy, or the amount of transparency that you want for you glass shower, now it's time to look at the overall layout or the footprint of the shower itself. Remember, when laying out the footprint or the overall design of your shower, the straighter the shapes, the lesser the cost it will be to produce the shower itself. Next, figure out the overall size of your shower. This will not only determine the size of each glass panel, but also the type of glass used. There are three different types of glass showers to select from: frameless, framed, or glass block. Each of these types of glass offers unique design opportunities and features. Last, determine the location of the major plumbing fixtures. For instance, if you have body sprays or a shower head, aim them parallel to the glass versus perpendicular to the glass. This will prevent any direct water from penetrating the seam and thus causing a spill in your bathroom. Glass showers are not only a great way to visually open up a space, but also a great way to showcase the beautiful tile in yoru shower. So until next time, this is Alan Hilsabeck, Jr. coming to you from South Lake, Texas. Have a great day.
