Hi, my name is Amy Clause. I'm an optician at Blue Ridge Optical in Roanoke, Virginia. And today I want to show you a good way to get scratches out of your eyeglasses. First off, I want to tell you that there's really no way you can actually get the scratches out of your lenses. The best thing to do is to prevent them by cleaning them properly. However, there is a trick that you can use on uncoated lenses to make those scratches less apparent. You can use a furniture polish. What you are going to do is spray a little bit of that polish directly on the lens. Once you get that polish on the lens you want to use your fingers, clean of course. And rub that in on both sides and rub it in really good. What that is doing is filling in the scratches. After you do that you want to take a clean cloth. Do not use a paper towel sometimes that's rough. And you don't want to add more scratches cause we are trying to take away from the scratches. What you are going to do is just polish that right out. And it should leave a nice shiny finish. However if you have anti glare coated lenses this is not a good trick. All it's going to do is smear it around and just make it difficult to clean. One thing you want to remember is each time you clean your eyeglass lenses you are going to have to reapply your furniture polish. Because when you clean them it's cleaning all of that right out of the scratches. I'm Amy and that's a good way to get scratches out of your eyeglasses.
