Hi, my name is Marija. I'm a mathematician, and today I'm going to show you how to figure out the domain and range of ordered pairs. So, I'm going to give a set of ordered pairs. Let's say we have 2, 3; 4,6; 5,9; and 1,8. Okay, the domain is very simply all of your possible X values. And the range is all of my possible Y values. So when I list the set of coordinates that are going to be my domain, I'm looking at the X values in each of my ordered pairs. So I'm looking at the 2, 4, 5, and 1. And the range are all of my Y values, so I'm going open my set notation. 3 is a Y value, 6 is a Y value, 9 is a Y value, and 8 is a Y value. So my domain, when I'm looking at these ordered pairs, is 2, 4, 5, 1, and my range is 3, 6, 9, 8. The easiest way I think for you to remember domain and range is that D comes R in the alphabet, and X comes before Y in the alphabet. So if you can remember to pair them up like that, D is paired up with X and R is paired up with Y. D comes before R. X comes before Y.
