How to Ace an Interview Without Being Nervous

Hello I'm Darryle Brown from Brownconsulting.org and today we will discuss how to ace an interview without being nervous. Being nervous prior to an interview is a natural response for a lot of us. Here are some things to consider for you to help maybe perhaps ease the tension a little bit when you're preparing for that important interview. Nervousness is okay but as long as the nervousness does not become a distraction from you being able to effectively rock the interview session, these are the tips that can help you get there. Number one, it's important to prepare for that interview and that means knowing your material inside and out. You need to know your resume from front and back. You need to know what your education brings to the table for that position. You need to know what your experience as well as any other elements of your talents or background that can help you have that competitive edge. If you don't know what you bring to the table, the interviews will not know either and if you don't prepare yourself in a manner in which you have those materials in play, you have nothing to work with to help you ease that tension once you're in that interview session. What's important in also preparing as well is that it helps reduce the anxiety when you are asked questions that you have to think on your feet or speak off the cuff. Number two, another one to consider is to practice before the interview. There are some very basic things you can do to help you to practice prior to it. I like to, personally I like to use big mirrors and put them in front of me then I may use an object like either a pillow to pretend that they are the panelists and I will come up with a series of questions on flashcards that I think perhaps they may say or may not say but unusual questions as well as basic questions so that I can actually see myself. I can visualize how I sound as well as if you record it, it also gives you a general idea of how clear your communication is or if there are areas where you need work when you're practicing. It's best to make the mistakes during practice than to do it during an interview. And lastly, it's important to be prompt or early. I would recommend, don't be any earlier than about 15 minutes, maybe 10 minutes early is totally appropriate when preparing for the interview. that leaves, first of all it leaves a great impression on the employer that you're the type of person that they know will always be on time or early rather than late. If you show up late for an interview, you've already put yourself at a disadvantage and if you're nervous prior to that interview, you will really be nervous when you're trying to explain yourself when you're not on time.
