Hi, I'm Jimmy Chang, and we're here to talk about the definition of centimeters. Now, the important thing when it comes to the definition of centimeters, is always to analyze the word and see if you can extract anything from the word itself. Now, when you have centimeters, the important thing is to divide it up into parts, especially, the prefix, centi. Now, you know, centimeter is related to the word, meter. But the important thing is look at the prefix, centi. Now, centi, no matter what the context is, whether it be centiliter, centimeter, or centigram, as some circles will use. Centi is always equal to one over one hundred, of anything. So, a centimeter by definition, is equal to one, one-hundredth of a meter. And to kind of put things in perspective, one centimeter is less than 0.4 inches. That's right, one centimeter is not even half an inch, in fact it's less than four-tenths of an inch. So, centimeter's really, really small, but the base of the definition is, it's one-hundredth of a meter. So, I'm Jimmy Chang and that's the definition of a centimeter.
