Hey, I'm Kent "The Deck Chef" Whitaker, and today we're going to grill bratwurst on the grill. This is really easy. What you're going to do is make a bath for your bratwurst and some sliced up vegetables, put them on the grill and then walk away for a little while. For a bath you can use anything you want. Most traditionally people use beer, so we're going to add a beer to a full pan, depending on how many people you're serving, how many brats you're going to use. It depends on how much liquid you're going to use. So I'm adding beer and a little bit of apple juice for some extra flavor there and then all we're going to do is add some sliced pepper, sliced white and sliced red onions for some more flavor and then last, we're going to put in our brats. All you have to do is set them in there. This works great with smoked sausage. You can even do hot dogs and this for the kids if they don't want a bratwurst. But if you're having a good game day party, everybody wants a bratwurst it seems like. So we've got everything in the bath, adjust the liquid as you need to, whatever kind of fluid you want. Then what we're going to do is move this over to the grill. Alright we've got our bath going, got the bratwurst in there, sliced peppers, onions, everything ready to go, got the grill fired up. All we want to do is set this over here in the corner, going to let it simmer for about 15 minutes, go enjoy some time with some family and friends. Okay we've got these going a little bit, now what we're going to do, they're cooking inside all that bath, we're just going to move them over to the grill, use tongs, don't use a fork. You want to keep that casing on there, the stuff the sausage is packed into. What we're going to do is cook them on both sides a little while, return them to the bath, they'll keep nice and moist. Before you serve them out, do it one more time. Okay we've done this a couple of times, moved them from the bath to the grill, aw, still nice and juicy, haven't been punctured yet. Going to put them back into the bath, keep that seasoning and that flavor all in there, using the tongs. See they're not punctured using the tongs. You don't want to use a fork. I'm going to put them back in the bath before I serve them. You can serve them right off the grill or bring them over to where your friends are waiting. Alright, got them ready to go, they're in the bath, they're still juicy. Whatever your game day tradition is, it doesn't matter, French bread, hoagie roll, hot dog bun, as long as the brat makes it on there, that's what I'm talking about. Bratwurst, some mustard, grab some of these peppers and onions that you grilled up in your bath, you're ready to go and that is how you do a bratwurst on the grill.
