Hello, my name is Steffen Root, co-owner of Berkshire Bike and Board and today I'm going to show you how to bunny hop a mountain bike. A bunny hop in mountain bike is the action of bringing both wheels up off the ground to get over obstacles in your way, like a log, a curb, rocks, stones. First I'm going to explain the action and I'll do it off the bicycle. First things first is we're going to compress our arms, then we push off hard, bring the bike up into your body. At the pinnacle of the front wheel being up, push forward and you bring th back wheel off the ground. As I approach my obstacle, I compress my arms, push up, push forward. Like any new skill, learning to bunny hop's going to take some practice. So, finding a nice, flat, smooth area is definitely going to be where you want to start. You can bring in little obstacles just like a board or a stick to practice getting over. Once you've got that down, you can go to bigger obstacles and then bring it to the woods. And that's how to bunny hop on a mountain bike. My name is Steffen Root, co-owner of Berkshire Bike and Board, here in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
