Hi, I'm Christy Wilhelmi from Gardenerd. And this is how to prune buttercrunch lettuce. Now some people will wait until the whole head actually forms a head and then cut the whole thing off. But I actually I like to pick the outside leaves because that means the plant will last longer. I can get a lot more leaves from this one head of lettuce if I leave it in the ground. And it will produce over about three months. So that's what I'm going to do. Now when harvesting you still want to harvest the outside leaves and leave the center leaves because the plant grows from the center. So if you can see the center leaves are quite small. But the outer leaves are the big ones. Those are the ones we are going to harvest. Basically we are going to search for those larger leaves that maybe shouldering up against their neighbors. And I'm going to reach in and I'm going to pinch them off with my thumb and my forefinger. And if you are not super secure about that you can certainly use pruning shears. But this works just as well. Just snap it off right off at the base and there you are. I'm Christy Wilhelmi from Gardenerd. And this was how to prune buttercrunch lettuce.
