Hi, I'm Doug Levi, principal agent and owner of Strategic Insurance Services. And today I'm going to talk to you about how to get liability insurance for the self-employed. First thing I'm going to tell you, is you need to understand what type. Is it General Liability? Is is Professional Liability? So I'd recommend finding out, based on your occupation, and perhaps some entity, whether it's a another corporation or accounting might be requiring you to have it, you want to get a little bit more information. What type of insurance do I need? The second thing I would suggest is finding a local agent. Local independent agents, you want to make sure they're independent, because they have access to several different carriers. Local independent agents can help you with a variety of coverages, usually with multiple carriers to ensure that you're not only getting the good coverage you need, but also at a good price. The third thing that I would say to you, is look at, business in the home. So what I mean by that, is if I'm self-employed and maybe I'm working in my home, perhaps my homeowners policy might be able to cover me for that. So again you'd want to check with your carrier or with your agent to see if there is any specific endorsement that you would be able to put on your policy to cover that. My name is Doug Levi. I'm with Strategic Insurance Services and this is how to get liability insurance for the self-employed.
