Hi. My name is Doug Levi. I'm principle agent and owner of Strategic Insurance Service and today I'm going to talk to you about how to obtain an insurance license. First thing I'm going to suggest to you is you want to check with your state. Insurance is actually regulated by the state. So you want to look at your state's website. And that's something you can probably Google. Each state is going to have a website. Probably along the lines of the department of financial services. And you can go on there and find out what are the requirements for the license I'm trying to obtain. If it's the life and health insurance license, you're certainly going to be taking one set of examination compared to more along the lines of property and causality insurance like your home owners and your auto. Second thing I'm going to tell you, probably what your mother would tell you as a kid, you need to study. Insurance isn't rocket science. But it can be complex and it can be very different from what you may be accustom to. So I would recommend not only studying but finding a good local school that can help you with that process. And again, that's something you can probably look up fairly easily on line. There's lots of insurance schools out there. And there's a lot of information about that on line. The third thing I'm going to tell you is you're going to have to take the examine. All insurance license's is going to require you to sit for an exam. I've got three different licenses in my practice. I have to had to sit for a different exam for all of the them. So in summary, how to obtain an insurance license - The first thing I would recommend is to check with your state, what are their requirements? The second thing I would recommend is to study.
