Hi, I'm Colleen Mullaney for colleenmullaney.com. You know, today I'm going to show you how to make a beautiful old fashion Christmas ornaments. Look these, isn't it beautiful? And it's really simple to make. Just a little bit of old fashion velvet and some sparkly touches and you're good to go. Here's how we do it. Now, I found this great turquoise velvet ribbon at a trim shop and you know, I love the turquoise and the rose tones because those are really Victorian old fashion colors. So, I have this ribbon and I'm going to cut it into about six inch lengths. So, I'm just using my trustee ruler here and; here we go and I just love this ribbon, it's so lush and beautiful. And then what we do is we take some tacky glue right in the middle and let me just trim this and so we have everything flat and flushed in the center there. Okay. And then, you just fold in and I'll put some more tacky glue here in this end and you just fold this end over to the center to form this little velvet loop. And then, you add another span of glue on the inside to glue it altogether. And to make one of our little velvet stars, you need three and I have them here and what we're going to do is just make a simple star shape. So, you leave one straight and using the tacky glue, you just put one; just kind of, kind of make an X. But, you put one of the pieces on top and then one on the bottom. Here we go, just so it's not all bunched on the top. Okay. Great. And don't worry if it's not perfectly aligned, be perfectionist in the imperfection and it's a craft and we should be having fun. So, there we have our base. Now, to add a little sparkle and glitter and glam to our old fashion velvet snowflakes and I think they're really fun and they're, they're kind of vintagee; they look like a little vintage glass to me, so I thought they were great. So, we're going to add a little snowflake on the top. Oops, here we go. Good thing about tacky glue is it dries clear. Here we go. And now on top of that, we're just going to add another little blue gem and you can get this at the craft store and and they come in packages and they're fairly inexpensive. But, I just thought to put one more layer of glitter and glam in reflection on top of the vintage snowflake would really make our old fashion ornament sing. Now, to the bottom we're going to add a little bit of glam, little bit of these, these beads actually I found them in the, the wedding aisle. They remind of little beads of cut glass. So, I thought they were kind of really cool, very vintage, very old fashion. So, what we're going to do is just take one; I'm just cutting the, the wire, it's a very thin wire, it's easy to cut with a scissor. And just turn the ends and you can puncture the velvet and put it right inside or you can simply glue it on the back. And gluing works really well, just like that. Now we'll that sets, I'll leave that over here and I'll bring our finished piece over here and as you can see, we just finish it off with a really nice thin blue ribbon. It has a little sparkle in the edges with the silver and this is so beautiful. I can't wait to hang this in my tree. And here's another one I did in lighter shade of blue. I just think they're so beautiful and they're so old fashion. Thanks for watching. I'm Colleen Mullaney.
