Hi. I'm Bob Holcomb from Apex Automotive in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Today we're going to give you a few tips on how to patch an exhaust system. Let's say, for example, this exhaust pipe had a hole. I have a device that I could fit around the pipe and clamp down with two bolts, which would seal the hole, for the time being. Although a temporary fix, it will get you to your destination. So, if we had a hole in this pipe in the back--the tailpipe--a quick fix would be to use these simple components: a tin can, about the same size as the pipe, and a couple of regular hose clamps. We fit the can around the pipe. After the can is around the pipe, we take the hose clamps, fit them around , and tighten them up. And you have a temporary fix on your exhaust system.
