Hi, I'm Evette Rios here on eHow.com and with the holidays right around the corner we're all trying to figure out exactly how we should set our tables properly and I'm going to show you once and for all the right way to do it and it's super easy. So I'm just going to put my plate down on the tablecloth. Of course, you could use a charger underneath or you could use a place mat. You know place mats tend to be a little bit informal for everyday so you could always use a charger and a charger actually used to get heated up in the oven and then brought out and it would actually heat the foot so that's why it was called a charger. But that was a long time ago. So now, I am just putting the plate on there. If you had a salad or if you had any sort of soup it would go right on top of your plate like that and now for utensils, easy way to remember it, you always put utensils with four letters to the left and utensils with five letters are to the right and you always put the fork that you start with on the outside. So you're going to work your way from the outside in. So salad fork, dinner fork, just like that. Then your knife which has five letters goes on the right side. And you're going to put that with the blade in just because it's more polite that way and you're going to put the spoon on the outside there. So now this spoon is actually your soup spoon and if you had desert I would put my desert spoon right up at the top. And you know there's a little bit of controversy about who uses a spoon for desert and who uses a fork. Personally I use spoons more often because I want to get all the juices and goodness that comes with my desert. So I often use a spoon. Then for your glasses, you put your water glass further away from you and you put your wine glass closer to you and why is that? Because everybody likes wine a little bit more than water and then you can put your napkin either on your plate or you can put it under your silverware which you would put it under the knife and spoon so there you go. And for our little placeholder I'm going to use the apple that I made with the leaf and I'll put it right there so Steven knows exactly where he's sitting and there you go, my Thanksgiving table is set. Thanks so much for watching. For all these project ideas check out our website. I'm Evette Rios here on eHow.com and from all of us happy holidays.
