Hi, I'm Evette Rios, here on eHow Food and I wanted to share with you guys a few ways that you can make your own place card holders at home that are really going to impress your friends and are perfect for your holiday table. Okay so to start, you can pick up these vintage pieces of silverware from basically any antique store sometimes even thrift stores. You usually find them in one offs, so you can find like a fork, a knife, usually it's rarely a full set but they're gorgeous so you can use these to make your own place card holders. I just grabbed some paper. I am obsessed with the scrapbooking paper. It comes in all sorts of different colors and patterns and it's awesome. You can get a book of 500 for like five bucks. So I just use this for everything. You can cut out little flags like this and with your marker just write the person's name on it then you stick it right in the tines of the fork. I just think this is such a cute little idea and a cute way to reuse antique silverware that you may not have another use for, put the person's name on it and then you put that right on your place setting like that and it looks great and frankly it took like a minute and a half. So the next idea is using fruits. This is probably stuff you may have on your fruit basket on your dining room table. I love apples. You can certainly use pears. Again with your scrapbooking paper just cut little leaves like this. So what I did was I folded the paper in half, cut out the form of a leaf and then you're just going to write the person's name on it and just cut a little slit right into the apple like that and then you put your leaf in there, how cute is that? Ta da, so cute, again, just a couple minutes. So you can do the same thing with oranges and cloved oranges are really really popular during the holidays, really easy to do, just grab your oranges, get a bunch of cloves. You're going to use this for your ham anyway so you've probably got them around the house and then I'm going to write a letter just to give myself a form on the actual orange so I'm going to put a D on here because I'm going to invite my friend Dillon over. So I'm going to make it nice and swirly, not bad, you don't have to be super fancy and then you're going to take your cloves and just pop them in around your letters. And what I love about this idea is that it really smells so good. You get the orange, you get the spice, it's like the perfect thing for a Thanksgiving table. So you just put that right on your table like that and you've got a personalized monogram for every guest at your dinner party. So the last couple of ideas are probably things you have around the house, corks, whenever you get a bottle of wine you get one of these, not sure what to do with them afterwards, you can make place card holders with these too. So I'm just using a little X-Acto knife and I'm going to cut a little slit down the top of the cork. You can use the cork either this way horizontally or you can use it vertically, either way, get funky and then I've got these leaves, these beautiful Fall leaves that I wrote my guest's names on. You can use a metallic pen like I used here or you could just use a regular old black marker and I'm just going to slide this right into my cork like that and there you go, super easy and then finally these are really pretty cool. These are made out of scrapbook paper just like the rest of them and again I love the scrapbook paper because of all the colors that it comes in. This is actually a downloadable template that we're going to have on our website and then you can cut out the butterfly like this and then you fold it in half and you're going to hook this right onto your glass like that. So I've already got this one already made, write the person's name on it. So for instance this one says Rachael and then you just put this one right by your table too and there you go, now Rachael knows exactly where she'll be sitting. Hopefully it will be right next to me. I'm Evette Rios here on eHow Food. Thanks so much for watching and happy holidays.
