Video: How to Draw a Knight Jousting

Jousting is a type of sport that requires a person to ride a horse. Draw a knight jousting with help from an illustrator and comic book artist in this free video clip.

Hi, I'm Eliza Farren and I'm an artist. Today, I'm going to show you how to draw a knight jousting. I'm going to start with his horse. So, I'm going to start with the ear, the nose, go down and draw a leg and another leg, and the belly, and this should be thinner at the bottom. Going to bring this down and then draw the tail. Draw the little hooves. Then on top of the horse, I'm going to draw the knight. So, I'm going to start with the leg and the little foot. And knight's shoes are kind of pointy at the end. Then I'm going to draw the skirt of his armor. And on top I'm going to draw the shape of his helmet and a feather flying off. Maybe some upside down Us to show the helmet. Then I'm going to draw his arm and it's going to be holding the jousting stick. So, first I'm going to draw kind of a curved triangle around his hand where he holds it. Then I'm going to draw a line going out on either side. Then I'm going to go in, do some detail of his armor. Do a little joint here for his legs. Erase this, what overlaps. Then I'm going to go in and draw the saddle. You can almost make it like a blanket for decoration. A little stirrup for his foot, and an actual saddle. And on the horse's face add a kind of a mask with a hole for his eye. Going to go in and draw the nose and the hair. Usually it's in kind of a tight style. And that is how you draw a knight jousting.
