Put away the altar and cancel your séance because this Halloween season you’re going to haunt your own house. With the help of a dusty vase and some wiry, dead twigs, you can bring the graveyard to your back yard -- without disturbing any restless demons.

Hi, I'm Evette Rios, here on eHow.com, and Halloween is right around the corner, but I've got your back with this easy centerpiece that is going to spook your guests. So what you need to start with is you need a vase like this and I picked this one because I thought it was like really creepy looking. It kind of looks like the sort of thing you'd dig out of a cemetery or something like that's. So a good receptacle like that is a good idea, then you're going to need some sort of foam. I'm using floral foam. It comes in this like little round square, roundish cylindrical thing. You can use any sort of foam. You can use Styrofoam. It's just to be able to be able to stick your branches into and you're going to need some branches. These are quite lovely branches but you can literally just go into your backyard and get branches and even spray paint them black which I've done before and that's super fun. And then I've got some rocks to cover up my foam that's going to be in there and then to add some little spookiness, I'm going to make little ghosts using gauze to hang from the branches. So first things first, get your foam, stick it inside of your container, perfect, you just want to jam it in there. Then you're going to grab your branches and you know, the thing is you want to sort of figure out exactly what you know, orientation you're going to put them in so I'm just going to kind of decide that looks pretty good and I'm going to stuff them right in there like that, perfect. You can stick them in further if you want them to be a little bit further in. You can kind of make them higher, whatever, but it's nice, it's like especially a nice thing to have like on a side table or as people enter because the height is like very dramatic and the bigger the branches, the more drama which I love. So I've got my gauze here already cut in sort of a little square and then you're going to take other pieces of gauze and sort of ball it up like that and you're going to stick it right in there and this is to make his little head, see him, and then with a little bit of string, I'm just going to tie it around his neck. Don't worry, he's dead already, he's not going to care that he's strung around his neck. And there he is, super creepy but also kind of cute and you can put little eyes on him if you want with like a Sharpie marker or something like that but I'm just going to go ahead and string him onto my branches. There you go and I'll trim the little strings so that they're not quite as long. That looks good. You could always add more ghosts if you want more ghosts or keep it simple and then I'm going to use these rocks here to just kind of sprinkle around and cover up the foam that I have in there. So there we go, just kind of spread those around and you could use just about anything, you could use gravel. You can use any sort of moss. I love Spanish moss. That looks really creepy too, so you can use that and there you go, super simple centerpiece, easy and with stuff you've got at home and in your backyard. Thanks so much for watching and tune in again for more easy tips.
