Hi, I'm Kelli Ellis of Kelli Ellis Interiors. In this video I'm going to show you how to convert your dining room into another, spectacular room. There's so many different things that you can do to change your dining room into another great room. Now, when you think dining room, you think, obviously, tables and chairs, but the other thing that really signifies a dining room is your lighting. So you have to be mindful of the lighting and what's that going to mean in the new room. So thinking of your new design, maybe you want another TV room, maybe you want another bedroom, who knows what kind of dining room you have? Maybe you want a study, a library, a pool-table room, the lighting is really going to signify what's happening in that room. If you think about it, if you remove the tables and chairs, you actually only have this really low-hanging light, the one that people hit, knock their heads on if they walk through. So you have to change the light again, obviously, to change the purpose of the room. Now, the only time you wouldn't is if you wanted to make a pool-table room or a game room. Go ahead and slide that pool table in, you're ready to go. But if you really want to change the purpose of the room, change your lighting. Maybe put a beautiful chandelier, but something that's a little higher. Maybe it's some kind of task lighting or pendant lighting, over a game table. Something different. Maybe it's a couple of pendant lights, you've replaced the chandelier with something else, because now you've got a sofa, and you have more task lighting that's needed. Maybe you're going to make an office, again, you need task lighting. So the lighting is really what changes the tone of the room, more so than the furniture. You just never know what you're going to have when you have pendant lights or different lights hanging in the room. So think lighting first, right alongside of the ultimate purpose and what you'd love your new room to be. Again, I'm Kelli Ellis, and that was how to convert your dining room into another great room in your home. If you have any questions, go ahead and reach out to me at kelliellis.com.
