Hi, this is Jim Tarr, and today we'll be learning about small flower garden plants. When you're planting a small flower garden, a couple of things you want to keep in mind is the spring, summer and fall blooming flowers. You also want to keep in mind the texture you're going to use, and the colors. For example, right here we have a little dark green evergreen and then we have this gorgeous variegated mint. On arranging these small flower gardens, I'm going to show you one that was recently planted right here and show you one we've had in for a while. You can see we've used a couple different elements. We've used different color foliage. We have the yellow, green and the juniper... the browns and purples... and the coral belles. And just the flowers - the purple and yellow right now. We've also used repetition. You want to make sure you're not too scattered. Do groupings. We've used a grouping here of three digitalis. We've also used two of the new cherry cola coral belle, or heuchera. We've used two of the junipers. We have the orange of the hummingbird plant, also known as zauschneria. This will attract hummingbirds. In the back, now some of these have just finished blooming. We have Crocosmia Lucifer. That's a bright red flower. That's usually a July bloomer. We have honeysuckle in the back. That'll bloom in the spring for you. So it's important to keep all those elements in mind. This was Jim Tarr, and we have learned about small garden flower plants.
