Hello, my name is Jessica Craven. I'm a master gardener, and I have my certification in permaculture design. Today, we're going to talk about watering tomatoes. It's very important to make certain that you water your tomatoes at the base. A lot of times, people want to just, you know, be relaxing in the yard, using the hose, over-spraying their tomatoes, and it's important not to do this. The reason is, bacteria and fungus that live in our soils will basically bounce up and land on your tomato plant. One example of this is the Persea mite, and what it'll do is, it'll attack your tomato plant, and basically look as if it's starting to kill your plant. You'll see maybe yellow leaves, or curled up leaves, or brown leaves, this type of thing. How you can prevent it is to make certain that when you water your tomatoes, you water at the base, and don't allow any of the spray to come up onto either the main plant, or the leaves. So, today we've talked a bit about the best way to water our tomatoes.
