When your computer doesn't recognize the Action Replay via USB, it cripples the device's usability. The Action Replay device works in two ways: you can use it to enter cheat codes into a game and to load hacked save files -- often called Power Saves -- onto the device for use in your favorite game. It also allows you to copy and back up your existing save files. You might be having trouble because of the USB connection itself or because of issues with your software.
