Triathlon is a sport that is growing in popularity because it's a great way to get and stay in shape. Working on three disciplines all for one race prevents participants from getting bored and keeps them focused.     I started competing in triathlons four years ago, and once you compete in a triathlon, you are hooked for life. I began covering triathlons as a reporter for a local newspaper and it really grabbed my interest. Training for and competing in triathlons has really taught me alot about myself. I think it can do the same for others which is why I am always ready to encourage others to get into this sport. | hide

      When winter sets in, many triathletes head to gyms or pools for their training. But one exercise that can help you get out and enjoy, yes I said enjoy, the weather is cross country skiing. Cross country skiing is one of the most cardio intensive workouts you can do. In addition, by getting out into the sunlight and nature, you can also fight off the winter lows that affect so many of us. Lack of exposure to the sun in winter can sometimes cause a mild depression and make you not want to workout. By getting out and cross country skiing, you can fix both of those issues at once.
