While planning a trip down to the details can make things go smoother and your trip more productive, sometimes having a plan is not the way to go. Without an itinerary to follow it can free you up to see things at the spur of the moment and leave your sight seeing up to how you feel that day rather than how you felt when you made your plans. Also by vacationing without any real plan can give you time to relax and just sit and take in the area around you.

When choosing a hotel in Paris there are lots of things to think about. Most do not come with a television, some you have to share a bathroom. Do they offer a breakfast, how about 24-hour check in service? One question you might not ask yourself is how close are they to the nearest Metro station? Yet that could be one of the biggest factors in deciding where to stay. Paris has one of the best public transportation systems in the world. Thanksgiving is one of the biggest travel days of the year. And for many, it can be a very stressful time. But by planning ahead for the delays and congestion that often make travel so difficult, you can save a lot of stress. First, leave early. It doesn't hurt to plan to get to the airport, a relatives house or whatever your destination a little early. If you are going to the airport, it is much nicer to sit in the chairs near the gate than to be standing in long lines near the check in. If you are head to someone's home, don't arrive to early but showing up a few minutes ahead of time could give you a chance to settle in long before the others arrive. Second, plan for delays. Have back up to keep you amused. If you are traveling with children, small games and snacks can go a long way. The more you are prepared, the less hectic your turkey day will be.
