on 11/15/2008 "Don't take them into stores, you give other chi owners a bad reputation."

That was a little unnecessary. You know, tiny chi's deserve love and a good home too. Sometimes a puppy just isn't as big as their brothers and sisters. To shun a little dog, and say that their presence "gives you a bad name" is really pretty mean. I have a chi that could be considered a "teacup" in some people's eyes, because he is on the small side, but he was not bred to be that way, and I did not adopt him under those terms. Think before you type. It makes sense to criticize
the breeder, but not the pup, ya know?

on 4/21/2008 My dog, Charlie, likes to lick the tops of comfortors, furniture, car upholostry and me. He likes cloth materials.
Is this boredom or lack of something in his system or just a compulsive disorder.
How can I break him of this.
Thanks,
Carol

on 4/21/2008 Can anyone tell me why my dog, Charlie, licks the tops of comfortors, furniture, car upholstory and me. He seems to like cloth materials.
Is it boredom or lack of a vitamin or mineral? He can lick for hours it seems.
Thanks,
Carol

on 1/12/2008 AKC does not acknowledge TEACUP as a classification of Chihuahua, only Long and Short hair. Please don't buy what people call Teacups, it's very unhealthy to bred them so small. Don't take them into stores, you give other chi owners a bad reputation.

on 12/22/2007 Chihuahua vs Coyote: Do all Chihuahuas have "Napoleon Syndrome?" We were out in the yard today when our newly adopted Chihuahua started growling. I turned & saw a Coyote running across the yard. They got within about 20' of each other. The dingaling Chihuahua started chasing the Coyote that was just trying to get away (from me). Due to socializing training issues I have zapper on him. It took 3 times to make him stop chasing the Coyote!! This coyote has been viewed playing for hours with neighboring (large) dogs, but .....

on 10/23/2007 If you live out in the country and let your dog outside/take em for walks make sure you don't just look on the ground for potential harms for your dog. Just 2 days ago me and my tiny Chihuahua got attacked by an eagle. I could scare it away but it was a very intense experience. There are lots of big birds in the sky and they don't see the difference between a small dog and a rabit.

on 2/24/2007 i had a friend who had a 3 chihuahuas all there lifes they had been fed soft foods no hard foods, and i noticed that almost all dogs who are fed soft foods teeth become yellow and really mest up but when they eat hard dry foods there teeth are white cleaner stronger and healthier.so remember feed your dog hard healthy foods especialy toy breeds my chihuahua is 6 years of age and her vet said that her teeth are almost as healthy as a 1 year olds so no soft foods it may taste better for them but in the long run the dry food is going to help them out

on 9/24/2006 Mix in egg whites with your Chihuahua's food once a week to make their coat shiny. Don't feed them this more than once a week or they can get the poops.

on 9/2/2006 I didn't get my little guy neutered because I kept putting it off, being busy and not really thinking about it. Last week he sneaked out of the house, ran around the neighborhood, and was hit by a car. Looking back I wish I would have had him neutered to possibly limit his desire to roam. I miss him so much, and am sharing this with anyone who has a male Chihuahua, so you can please consider getting him neutered right away. It's so much better in the long run.

on 9/2/2006 We have a teacup Chihuahua and he developed alopecia (hair loss spots), which started as small bald spots. We bathed him with a special shampoo and also we put 2 drops of cod liver oil in his food. He loved it. It took about 4 months for him to completely recover. He has been healthy ever since.

on 9/2/2006 Our vets all said don't give milk to our Chihuahuas, so we didn't. However, after our new 4 puppies were 3 1/2 weeks old, the mother collapsed and would have died if we had not gotten her to the vet 24 hr. ER immediately. Her calcium was about 4.0, and it should have been 7.9-11.0. She had to have IV calcium and immediately she revived. We had to try to wean the puppies and we gave her and the puppies Promised Land organic whole milk (in the dairy section) mixed with Eucanuba puppy chow moistened with water plus 2 TBS. of baby food strained turkey or chicken--all of our dogs love it, and all seem very healthy and none have had seizures. We believe the lack of natural calcium and phosphorus in milk probably contributed to seizures in the past. None of the puppies have had seizures yet and now they are about 4 months old.

on 6/11/2007 I have a little Chihuahua family; the mother, the father, a brother from the first litter and the sister from the second litter. Just like human families, they get into fights, especially the males. The quickest way to break this up is to keep a spray bottle full of plain water handy. One or two quick squirts and the fight is over. This also works to discourage indoor accidents, chewing, etc.
