Return to article: How to Ease the Pain of a Sunburn
on 1/23/2006 Get a cup of hot water and put 2 tea bags in it then let it sit until cold. Apply the tea to the burns, it makes the pain go away, and because it's cold; it takes out the hotness in the sunburn.
on 11/22/2005 Taking a cool bath really reduces pain. If for some reason you have to take a shower instead, make sure if you have a powerful shower head not to let it directly hit the burned areas. Also, when done, lightly dab the burned area to dry it. Even though it feels a little better, trust me, do not rub it with a towel!
on 11/22/2005 When you use aloe vera, make sure it doesn't have alcohol in it. The point of using aloe vera is to soothe and get moisture back in your skin, and alcohol only dries your skin out.
on 11/22/2005 I put tea onto a washcloth and placed that on my face. Then I place an ice pack on top of the tea-covered washcloth and that soothes the pain.
on 11/22/2005 I was in Greece and burnt myself to a crisp. I couldn't sit or wear pants. A friend convinced me to apply Paul Mitchell conditioner and the burn was 85% better by the next day. I don't know if other rich conditioners work as well.
on 11/22/2005 To ease the pain of the sunburn you can apply egg white to affected area(s).

on 11/22/2005 After getting burned, as soon as possible take 2000-4000 mg of Vitamin C. It will stop the pain by the next day, and the burn will heal much faster. This remedy has worked for my family of beach-fanatics for years.
on 11/22/2005 Don't use lotion in the first 48 hours of the sunburn! It closes off the skin and doesn't allow the sunburn to heal! Use baking soda, tea bags and aloe leaves for the first few days!
on 11/22/2005 You can use Desitin to help with sun burn, I am so burned this weekend. My father treats people who have cancer from tanning and burning, so i know it works to relieve it. Don't go to tanning booths, my father says its harmful and can get Melanoma
on 11/22/2005 I've found that goat's milk lotion works even better than aloe. It takes the pain away and rehydrates the skin. It's definitely worth a try if you've got a bad one.
on 11/22/2005 first take toothpaste and mix it with white vinager and then chill it in the refigerater for five min. after that take a damp cloth and soak it in the mixture. put on burnt spots and it will take the heat and pain away.
on 11/22/2005 The Bach Flower cream works wonders. It reduces the sunburn very quickly and helps with the pain. It's also fantastic for insect bites and pimples. An alternative is Vitimin E oil, another essential in my cupboard. Aspirin helps too.
on 11/22/2005 First, bathe in a lukewarm-to-cool bath (NOT cold) for 30 minutes, then apply vinegar compresses. Last, smear Noxzema all over your burnt bits. It takes the heat out fast, plus it moisturizes the skin and helps prevent peeling.
on 11/22/2005 Soak pieces of gauze in milk and then place them on the sunburnt areas. It sounds pretty strange, but it takes the heat out of the burn and is very soothing.
