on 5/24/2009 My golden is having extreme hair loss after giving birth to a litter of 8. Any treatment tips or vitamin supplement suggestions?
on 4/27/2009 hello- my best friend golden- she is only 4 years old.She is really a fighter, she had liver failure about 6 months ago- her chance of making it were slim. I told the vet "do everything in your power to save her" I was so glad she MADE IT through. Now recently she diagnoise as pancreatitis, I am really physically, emotionally, mentally drained at the same time I am trying to be strong for her. She is on a special diet. She really doesnt like her prescription food. Is there any way I could make her homemade low fat food??? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciate. Thank you so much--Golden paws-

on 1/20/2009 (sorry, I guess I ran out of space lol) continued.. Last summer I was home for a couple of months, and it was great, I spent lots of time with him, I took him for walks, and just basically made sure he was being taken care of properly. My parents house isn't that big, so that pretty much limits the dogs area to the kitchen and living room, oh and of course his kennel which he has to sleep in every night. Now, months later, I have been away since the end of summer, the novelty has worn off for the dog, now he just sits there, in his house freezing, sometimes 5, 6, 7 hours a day without food or water on occasions. If anyone knows anything about Newfoundland winters, then you know that it is not even fit for a dog outside most of the time. The dog does not get his exercise, he is pretty much always lonely, and it really kills me, because for the most part there is nothing I can do...Plea
on 1/20/2009 What's up guys? I'm a 22 male, and I would just like to say first that I love dogs, but especially golden retrievers. There is just something about the breed, such a good looking, friendly and smart dog. All my life I wanted one, but we never really ever had the space or the money to raise a dog like that growing up. I have been moved out of my parents house now since I was 19, and about a year ago they decided to take a golden retriever from a family who couldn't care for him anymore. Basically I think the dog got bigger than they expected, and they were starting to neglect it and would just leave him tied on outside all day. So my parents kind of saved him I guess. When they told me that they had gotten the dog, I guess I was happy at first, then maybe a little jealous,(because I really wanted one lol), but then as time went on I just felt really sorry for Dakota. Last summer I w
on 9/27/2008 I have a golden. I love her so much. She has such a sweet disposition and is always trying to please. Loves to chase a ball and swim. The downside is she is too friendly to strangers. Very trainable with a soft touch and voice. Her spirit could be broken easily if mistreated. I recommend this dog to anyone who is kind and loving. Deb
on 6/19/2008 I have a Golden and this is our first she is now 12 months. She is the best dog we have ever owned. She is very friendly if she knows you and very shy if she does not. She loves to cuddle and thinks she is a lap dog. I have nothing to complaine about this bread. I will never get a different bread. I am a Golden fan for life.
on 3/7/2008 golden retrievers are the best canine on the planet and i LOVE them <3 to death!!!!!!!!
on 2/17/2007 Should your dogs suffer from hot spots/bald spots, unhealthy coat and skin, rashes etc. Try NUTRO PRODUCTS. I have 3 golden retrievers and when I changed their food to Nutro Lamb meal & rice formula, the bald spots on the skin of one of my dogs are now dry & beginning to grow hair again. My other dog has red rashes on his skin (I think it's hot spots) but just after a few days of eating Nutro, his skin is back to normal color (no more reddish color etc.). And, my dogs really look healthy. The coat is shiny, skin healthy. They really look so beautiful. So, in conclusion, I'll stay with Nutro Products. Try it! -Of course, I am not saying that it will work for all dog breeds - but for my goldens - it sure did work!
on 9/25/2006 I have a 10 year old Golden, she is my sweet girl. Last fall she started itching until all of her hair on her hind end was bald. I searched for answers on the Internet, took her into the vet, nothing seemed to work. I looked into food allergies and switched her to a all natural food (no preservatives), lamb and rice. This seemed to help a little, but still she was not looking very good. I kept looking for something to help her skin and her fur. What I found was Norwegian Kelp. I never had heard of it before but it is the best thing since sliced bread. It took about 2 months for the fur to start looking better, but she stopped itching, she had more energy and we had no problems with fleas at all this year. It is a vegetarian blend and garlic. I would recommend this to anybody that has a dog with skin problems it is wonderful stuff. Most everyone I know has put their dogs on it after watching what it did for my Golden.
on 9/2/2006 Tennis balls have to be a Golden Retriever's best buddy (sorry, you're second to this one). Not known for being gnawers, chewers, or rippers of slippers, Goldens will mouth a tennis ball whenever one's available. Just be sure and wash them every week or so with your dog's other bedding and toys (they get a bit nasty). Your retriever will get a good work playing fetch for as long as your arm will last. My 4 year old has had the same supply of toys since I got her at four months - they're still like new. The tennis balls on the other hand...but generics are 3/$1.00!
on 7/7/2006 Cuddling is very important with this dog. They love to be with you. They love to make people happy. If you truly love your dog, do everything to make him/her happy by spending some quality time with your dog.
on 7/4/2006 If you're Golden has hot spots, ask your vet for a powder that you set in water. And put it on a cloth to rub your Golden's feet with. I put long socks on my Golden when he got the hot spots on his feet! He doesn't mind.
on 3/17/2006 If you want a dog that is very sweet, loving, and always puts you first, get a Golden Retriever. They'll love you if you love them back, and they'll be your best friend.
on 2/2/2006 Golden retrievers LOVE to play, and they work hard to please and impress their masters. Develop games that stimulate the mind, challenge the golden's physical abilities, and provide as much interaction as possible - your golden will love you for it.
