I think it already depends on your skin type.To cure current sunburn, fresh aloe is a very good thing. Or even better: horse balm or red tiger balm. -

The absolute best thing is fresh aloe. We got some from a friend down in Southern California, and planted 1 leaf of the plant in a planter pot. The plant is now huge, and it takes no water, and we have free aloe! Fresh, with all its potential whenever we want it. Slice off the thorns and peel the skin back. The relief is amazing (albeit sticky). -

Use olive oil. Wash it off after a few minutes and add a thick layer of Vaseline before going to bed. -

When I get sunburns, I apply liberal amounts of aloe vera gel (not lotion). It helps to reduce the redness and quickens healing. -

Most of the sunscreens on the market protect only against UVB rays-the burning ones. Most of the UVA (the wrinkle rays) protection breaks down quickly once exposed to sun. Look for what is called photostable sunscreen to provide protection against both. -

Visit the beach at 7pm rather than in the afternoon. The rays are less intense, the beach is less crowded and the aura is more romantic! -

UVA causes skin cancer and wrinkles. UVB causes sunburn. You need a sunscreen that shields from both. They MUST be an SPF 15 or 30. They must have Avobenzone, Titanium Dioxide, or Zinc Oxide listed in the ACTIVE ingredients list. -

Be careful when applying any type of sunscreen, especially sunblock!!! Make sure you rub it in well and cover all exposed areas of your skin. If it's not applied evenly you can burn the exposed areas unknowingly.
