Nobody every looked good in leggings or stirrup pants. Straight leg pants draw the eye directly to the mid-line!

Always wear boot cut or flare legged pants. It minimizes the size of your hips in proportion to your body and makes your legs look longer.

How about losing weight as a tip to minimize that stomach? Why are we always looking for the "no-work-included" solution? Lose the gut, then you'll really have something to feel good about.

I'm sorry, but no matter how tiny or large you are, leggings and stirrup pants are no good. I'd honestly say for large stomachs, to create a straight shape from the stomach down, find natural to high-waisted pants that are wider legged, that flow from your stomach/hips straight down. It will create a nice sweeping shape.

The best thing you can do to create a more balanced shape is to choose clothing pieces that have a shape, so this idea of large tunics and sheath dresses is not good. Yes, with large clothing you won't be able to see bulges, but it makes all of you look even bigger. Instead, choose a well-fitted 1 or 2 button denim jacket or casual blazer that buttons just under your bust. Layer it over a tank top and button down shirt, or a sweater, and pair it with a pair of straight-leg or slightly boot-cut pants, not tapered. Tapered pants make you look smaller at the bottom, emphasizing how not-small you are in the middle or on top. Choose structured pieces that fit you well, and it will do you better than hiding under tent-like clothing. Balance is the key!

Pants that taper or narrow, stirrup pants and leggings are not flattering for anyone! They should be banished from the planet. Straight leg or slight flare pants that are nice and long elongate the leg and make one look taller and thinner. Also, to create a waist and minimize a tummy, wear structured jackets that give the illusion of a waistline.

Tapered pants accentuate your middle. You will end up looking like an ice cream cone - visualize starting at your hips, going down to a point at the bottom, and topping it off with everything above your waist.

Stirrup pants, leggings, and tapered leg jeans are a no no! Unless you want to look like you're wearing Mom's jeans, stay away from the tapered leg!

I try to wear the same one color top and bottom. I find it draws attention away from my belly (and thighs). I then accent my neck with a beautiful complimentary scarf or necklace.

As with stirrup pants, tapered pants look horrible on everyone. Tapered pants make your body into an upside down triangle making your stomach look even larger. Straight leg, boot cut and flared are best.

Tapered leg pants give an unbalanced look to the body, but boot cut or slightly flared pants are very flattering. I have a large waist, and when my daughter talked me into the boot cut jeans, it was the best I've looked in pants in a long time.

Narrow or tapered pants are horrible for a large stomach - they just accent it. Straight legs or wide legs create balance.

As you may have noticed everyone commenting on tapered pants as a no-no. That is very true. Tapered and Spandex pants only make your hips and butt area appear huge. Another thing, when your pants don't fit and are too small, they make you look bigger because more hangs out. And I hear that the excess fat that poofs out over your too tight pants is called a muffin top.

A trouser that sits at the widest part of the hip and flows straight down is the rule for women of size to look long and lean. And remember, no cuff at the bottom! That only shortens the look of your legs! I love Old Navy women's work pants exactly for that! I wear a 10 short, which is not easy to find without spending a fortune.
