I agree. Leggings would look awful on me as, although my hips and bottom are quite slender, my calfs are huge and I also have thick ankles, although my legs are not short. Tops should fit around the bust and fall loosly over the stomach-but be careful not to get the maternity look! A big baggy top will make YOU look big & baggy!Belts look bad on me-I don't think belts work if you are very top heavy (with a very large bust). It's very bad to have a one size fits all approach. What looks good depends on so many factors...

These tips are not accurate. I am pregnant and not big enough to be "showing." The one thing I can count on to completely camouflage the look of a wide stomach is a wide belted top. It cinches me in, and looks va-va-voomy, not at all chunky.

A new designer has created a line of shirts for men with large stomachs. They are cut fuller through the stomach & narrow enough through the shoulders to make the shoulders appear wider and the stomach smaller. About time somone adressed men's big beer guts! Check out stitchesofoz.com

I'm sorry, but these tips are awful. No matter your size, you should ALWAYS accentuate your waist, as it creats an hour glass figure, even if you don't have one. The last thing you want to do is put on skinny pants, as you will look ridiculously top heavy- like an apple on toothpicks. These are vey old fashoined, dated tips, that will make you look frumpy, dowdy and HUGE!

Wide leg pants can also help hide a larger tummy. The line they create is very flattering. Just find pant legs that are as wide as the widest part of your body (usually the hips). It creates a great line on the body.

Flare or bell bottom pants are the best for hiding a belly, especially if you have slim thighs. Try wearing a small flare with a semi-loose fitting top (v-neck is the best).

Warning about these types of shirts; it says that it conceals your midsection so you look smaller. Thats not true. I've noticed that these shirts make everyone look pregnant.

While I fully agree with the idea of feeling comfortable and looking your best, especially in business, I don't agree with ignoring the causes of poor health or disguising the symptoms of obesity.
If your doctor says you're overweight, it's not a matter of straight-leg pants or a flattering cut of the jacket, it's time to lose weight and work toward a long, healthy life.
If you're fourteen or fifty, the same rules apply: if you're conscious of those extra pounds and self-conscious about your physical appearance, it might be time to consider help or at the very least, consider taking the problem seriously.

Tapered pants are a gigantic mistake. They make you look tiny in the ankles and enormous in the thighs and belly. If you want to look slimmer, you should wear straight leg or boot cut pants, which will give you a longer line that draws the eye downward, making you look tall and beautiful.

Never underestimate the power of really good body-shaping underwear. They make whatever you're wearing fit better and make you look less flabby.
I've got a big post-C-section belly. Supportive underwear not only slims, but also keeps the incision muscles from aching if I'm on my feet for a long time.

Whenever I have worn an empire waist I have had people come up and ask me when the baby is due. You certainly don't want that if you just have a big tummy. I recommend wearing a simple top with a jacket over it. If possible, turn up the sleeves of the jacket. People will notice the jacket and not your stomach.

Nobody should ever wear a tapered pant. It should be illegal to even make them. They're unflattering, and will only make a larger stomach, hip or butt area look larger. You want a long straight leg, with a medium rise. Don't do low rise, and don't do at waist, because it will emphasize your stomach. As the article says, never wear pleats! Also, don't feel that roomy equals flattering. If you wear large, loose clothes, people will think that you're large. The most important thing to do is wear clothing that fits you correctly. The reason that most people complain about looking bulgy in an article of clothing is because it doesn't fit them. If a ten or twelve is too small, size up! This goes for girls who are still trying to wear a four, when they're really an eight. Size up, it makes you look thinner. Also, don't wear anything that looks like a column, because you basically look like you're wearing a sack of potatoes! That is not flattering to anyone, and you look like you're hiding something. You want something structured. But not so structured as to be a boxy jacket. You want a jacket with darts that comes in at the waist. It isn't bad to emphasize your waist, because that makes you look thinner. Just don't emphasize your tummy. Also, watch What Not to Wear, because they'll give you some good tips, for all sorts of body shapes.

Always wear boot cut or flare legged pants. It minimizes the size of your hips in proportion to your body and makes your legs look longer.
