on 4/3/2008 I have done all these steps that have been recomended, I still end up with dirty dishes.( My dishwaser is Brand New). Anyone know what I am doing wrong?
on 3/18/2008 IMPORTANT! The correct way to load a dishwasher depends on how many washer arms your washer has. 1) Open your dishwasher 2) See how many washer arms it has. If it has two or more than the correct way of putting pots on bottom is correct. If it only has one washer arm then the traditional (correct) way is WRONG and your dishwasher won't clean effectively. A one arm wash shoots water from the bottom all the way to the top of the dishwasher. If you have pots on the bottom then the water will not make it to the top to wash effectively. By putting pots on the top (open side facing down) and the dishes and glasses on the bottom you will clean the dishes better because water and cleaner easily spray past the dishes up to the pots. This is only if you have a single arm wash unit. Single arm wash units need to go opposite of the traditional way to load dishes.
on 3/18/2008 The load order (pots on bottom) is only correct if you have a dishwasher with a wash arm on top as well as on the bottom. THIS IS IMPORTANT. If you only have a bottom arm that shoots water then you will need to have the pots on top or else they will block the water from getting up to the dishes.
on 1/15/2008 In our house there is a battle as to loading dinner plates at front of washer to the back - or back to front. Make any difference?
on 1/1/2008 I actually wanted to know how to place the dishes in the rack. I have a new dishwasher, and I honestly can't figure it out! (I don't have the paperwork.)
on 7/12/2007 I think a cold can be passed on by touching handles too...if someone has a cold or flu they shouldn't touch the dishes or should use gloves
on 6/27/2007 Part of using the dishwasher is using the DRYING cycle. If I dry by hand might as well wash by hand. We use CLEAN/DIRTY magnets on our dishwasher. My daughter makes sure the right one is on because once I forgot to change it and she drank out of a dirty glass .... it was too funny! Needless to say, she didn't see the humor in it.
on 2/27/2007 Step 5 re pans with burned-on food: fill with boiling water from a kettle, heat to the boil on stove & give a quick brush then, place in TOP rack of the dishwasher (where they belong).
on 8/12/2006 In my house, the one who empties the dishwasher refills the soap dispensers when they're finished. If you see soap, the dishes are dirty.
on 11/22/2005 Since the dishwasher normally connects at the kitchen sink, turn the kitchen sink hot water on until hot water is at temperature peak. This assures a hot water start, and with powdered soap this will start washing with all granules dissolving.
on 11/22/2005 If the handles are down, the person who unloads the flatware will have his or her fingerprints all over the eating surfaces. Who knows where those fingers have been. Someone who works in our office has a terrible cold. It can be spread in several ways, one of which is touching the eating surfaces of flatware when unloading the dishwasher. The flatware is used by nearly everyone in our office.
on 11/22/2005 At work there was a problem with people putting their dishes in the sink instead of the dishwasher, because they couldn't readily tell if it the current load was dirty or clean.A coworker thought of a quick & obvious indicator. Since there's always coffee right next to the sink, whoever unloads the dishwasher dumps a little coffee down the inside of the door before shutting it. Whenever someone looks inside, they see the coffee spill (or stain when it dries) and automatically know it's a "dirty" load.
on 11/22/2005 I take my dishes out before the dry cycle begins and dry them with a dishtowel. This way there is no calcium buildup and no spots of food (which I was having a problem with).
on 11/22/2005 Some people in my house like to wash the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. This makes it difficult to determine if all of the dishes in the dishwasher are clean. To keep track, I place a shot glass in the silverware holder. If I open the dishwasher, and the shot glass is full of water, I know that the dishwasher has been used. I will dump the water out of the shotglass, place it back in the dishwasher, and it's ready to use again.
