on 11/22/2005 Unscrew the bulb from its socket while you're doing this chore. Since these bulbs are only meant to be on for a few seconds each time the door is opened, they often burn out during the lengthy time the door is open for cleaning and defrosting.

on 11/22/2005 Use rubberized drawer liners for the glass shelves. Keeps them from getting scratched and they're easy to wash. Also line veggie/meat bins with them. The liners are available in most housewares departments and cut down on the cleaning time.

on 11/22/2005 I begin by removing ALL cold items and placing them in my ice chest. Once all items are out of the fridge I clean as noted. But the ice chest keeps all food at a safe temperature during the process.

on 11/22/2005 Put Vaseline on the face of the door gasket all around; it will stop the gasket from sticking and tearing, and help it to seal better.
