on 11/8/2008 I just got a new Phillips DVD player. I have a Sony TV and I had a magnavox DVD player but it stopped working. The RCA Remote worked for both of these but I can't seem to program the Phillips with these directions. Is it compatable or is there another way?

on 8/19/2008 I had to re-progam my remote after my 14-month old thought is was her toy and it stopped working. I was able to get my remote to reprogram by finagling the steps a bit. For me Steps 2-4 did not work as written, but were eventually completed when I simply pressed the on/off button at the same time as the device button until the on/off light stayed on. after the tv turned off in step 5, in step 6 - you need to keep pressing the reverse button until the tv turns back on. basically, in step 5, the remote sends ten signals at a time, when you hit "reverse" you are telling the remote - hey one of those ten worked. then you hit reverse until it turns back on. then you hit the stop button in step 7 to save the code. mine is working now.
