on 9/19/2006 1. Turn on the component you want to program i.e. TV2. Press and hold button you want to program that matches the component you just turned on.3. Hit setup button, release component button, wait till red light stays on 4. Release setup button5. When component turns off hit the stop button.
on 1/9/2008 You can use the setup button on your universal remote if you don't know the code, and if there is not a 'code search' button on your GE remote control. Press the on/off button as the directions have stated.
on 6/30/2006 The GE/JASCO website instructs users to hit the code search button to begin programming your universal remote. However, since this particular remote does not have a code search button, hit the setup button instead. Hit the setup button until the red indicator light stays lit. Then, hit the device you'd like to program. Finally, enter the codes specific to your device. It worked for me after I called GE customer service. It's a pain in the neck when you can't find your remote control code. Good luck. I hope this helps.
on 11/22/2005 Tape a piece of paper with the codes onto the inside of the battery cover.
on 11/22/2005 Once you have figured out which codes work for which device, write them on a small piece of paper and tape them to the back of the remote. Completely cover the paper with scotch tape that way the numbers can't disappear.
on 11/22/2005 Write the code number, using a diskette marking pen, on the side of the TV, VCR and cable box. Next time power to your remote goes out, you'll know where your codes are.
on 2/4/2008 If you don't know the code for Step 5, press and release the power button until the device turns off. Then press the enter key. There are approximately 120 different codes, so you may be pressing Power for a while.
