on 7/5/2007 Upgrading the third world kids-it is bebeficial to donate your old computers to schools who do not have the chance of teaching computer lessons because of inavailability of units (only 1 unit is available and is used in the office for reports). Be a part of educating them in advance tech. Include our school in your list..(Molave Regional Pilot School SPED Center, Molave East District, Molave, Zamboanga del Sur)..Please address to the principal of the school so it would surely serve the school where you intent to help..More power and thanks..(I am the school's computer teacher in name but not in practical-always verbal teaching-there's no unit to be used for hands on exercises..

on 7/5/2007 Rememeber - Check what the organisations policys are in relation to your computers hard-drive. Most organisations won't go through the trouble of ensuring none of your data is left on the drive. If in doupt destory the drive with a hammer.

Reformating a hardrive doesn't guarentee that the data will be completely destroyed. A computer expert may be able to recover data including any bank details or otherwise used on the machine.

on 7/5/2007 Donating the old computer that you replaced with a newer model benefits everyone - you get a tax deduction; the nonprofit organization can better fulfill its mission; and the toxic parts of the computer don't end up in landfill.
