on 8/8/2008 these days you can actually get paid for your old, empty cartridges. Check out Castle Ink's (http://www.castleink.com/_recycle-ink-cartridges.html) recycling program.

on 2/26/2008 The best company to recycle your inkjets with is Planet Green. They pay the most. http://www.planetgreenrecycle.com

on 7/24/2007 HP crushes all of their used cartridges sent back to them and sends the materials to smelting or disposal. Refilling easily trumps smashing in environmental and energy use. Refiller quality varies widely, so find a refiller that will stand behind their warranty.

on 1/22/2007 Pick up a prepaid envelope at PetSmart and send them in...they get a couple of bucks to help save animals.

on 8/16/2006 There are plenty of commercially available ink refill kits on the market, everything from "accordion" type fillers that you use until empty and then throw out. Bottled ink (buy ink in bulk) with syringe kits you can use over and over (and they usually include tool kits, finger-drills, and plugs/tape to cover the hole), all the way to "ink stations" with ink chambers and needles all built in that gravity fill your cartridge.

Pick the one that best suits you. I've refilled some cartridges for a year but eventually even the best cartridge will finally go bad. Paper towels and tissues and a large piece of cardboard for a table cover are a must as is a bottle of isopropyl alcohol for clean-ups.

on 11/22/2005 Purchase refill kits from the Internet pawn shops and refill your ink for your bubble jet printers.
