Aluminum foil does not remove rust. All your doing with this technique is putting a coat of aluminum on top of the rust and making it look like bare metal. In a short time the aluminum comes off and you still have the rust.

This was an excellent solution! Coupled with vinegar, this was far better than the professional rust removals. Easy task and readily available household item like aluminum foil. The answer was right at hand the whole time while seaching for a solution. Thanks! -

If you have a ring of rust on your tub from your shaving can etc. use toothpaste and and old toothbrush to scrub it off.

You can remove rust from stainless steel by dipping a crumpled piece of aluminum foil in Coca Cola and scrubbing the stain.
