on 1/31/2009 Thank you jc4patents, your suggestion just saved me about $1,000.00 for new carpet. Your wonderful, it works like magic. Tobysmother

on 11/8/2008 the best way to get rid of a odor in your carpet is get down on your hands and knees and scrub it till it dont stink no more.

on 10/13/2008 The best products I have found for removing pet stains and odors are available from Go Glo Home Products at http://www.goglo.com
Their products are all natural and much safer than the retail products available from your local pet product supplier. Try P.A.W.S and Bio-Ox concentrate, these products are amazing and much more affordable than any retail products I have found.

on 10/17/2007 after reading these and other cleaning comments, I have found a mixture and process which I am pleased with as it removes old stains and leaves the carpet with a fresh, pleasing odor.

In a bucket, I mix 1 part water, 1 part white vinegar, 1/2 part 3% hydrogen peroxide, several squirts of a household detergent and a dash or two of Arm & Hammer Pet Fresh Odor Eliminator (basically baking soda). I got a sturdy long-handled brush with long plastic bristles from Smart and Final which makes it easy to brush the mixture into the carpet. I either follow up with my Bissell shampooer or use my vacuum after the carpet drys. So far, I have been quite happy with the results although I think I will still have to repeat it from time to time in the worst areas

on 3/8/2007 I have a huge problem, i had a baby 11 months ago, ever since he started getting up and moving around, my dog wants to urinate in his bedroom. well i have stopped the reurination problem, but now my sons carpet is really stained and his bedroom smells awful. I have used a bissel carpet cleaner over and over again with numerous chemicals. nothing seems to work, in fact since I have scrubbed the surface, the stains and oder have gotten worse. I have tried Natures Miracle, soda water, baking soda, as well as plain water. does anyone know of any thing else that will not harm my baby not to mention hurt the carpet worse than what it already is?

on 3/7/2007 outstanding tips...thank you all!!

on 2/12/2007 The best product I have used for pet stains is a product I get at
Petsmart called Pet Savr.
I had a stain that I had tried 2
other products on with no success.
I sprayed Pet Savr on it and it
was gone in seconds. The stain was
over two years old.
It's the best I have used and I have used many.

is called Pet Savr. I get it at
Petsmart. It is fabulous on carpet
and upholstery stains.
I had a stain that I had tried 3 other products on and had been there for almost two years. It
came out within seconds.

on 12/27/2007 I used Spot Shot on the urine stain. I then blotted, and followed up with a mixture of 1/2 water and 1/2 white vinegar. This has worked on really old stains as well. No stain, no odor left behind!

on 8/8/2006 My roommate's dog (who was banished) urinated all over my living room carpet for 3 months straight. It is stained an almost orange color.(originally grey). I tried everything to get it out. I rented a professional carpet machine, special carpet shampoo for pets, anti icky poo, baking soda etc. they all failed. I read about the product "Get serious" in a book. I bought a small bottle to test it out, not expecting much. I followed the directions on the bottle and my jaw dropped to the floor, it actually worked, even on the nastiest grossest parts. I will be purchasing a gallon tonight at Petsmart.

on 10/1/2007 You can get 20 Mule Borax in the detergent aisle and it's extremely cheap, and best of all it works. For an old urine smell, you may have to pull the carpet back (which is what I did and it most certainly worked but you can try on top first), slightly dampen the area then cover the padding and floor with the powder and allow to dry then vacuum up. For fresh urine blot up as much as you can then cover it with salt and the 20 Mule Borax powder and allow to dry then vacuum up. Test for color fastness, of course, but I used it on extremely dark burgundy carpet and it didn't discolor it at all. I tried about everything and this is what worked.
