on 7/29/2006 Use ammonia. It is a strong base and will neutralize the acid and stop the pain.

on 11/22/2005 Apply baking soda, sodium bicarbonate, with just enough cold water to make a paste directly on the sting site. The coolness will help relieve the pain and swelling and the baking soda will draw the poison out. Applying baking soda directly to insect bites, rashes, sunburn, and poison ivy will relieve the discomfort. Make a paste with water.
