Return to article: How to Prepare for Movers and Packers
on 6/30/2006 Work like crazy to be ready when they arrive. They will not be thrilled if you are fussing with last minute details. The reason you hired pros in the first place was their speed and efficiency. Let them do it all. You will be happy you did.
on 6/30/2006 Set up for their arrival with a cooler of cold drinks, a box of donuts, a $50 bill so they can get lunch, and play a radio so their day goes by faster and more pleasantly. Make them feel welcome -- keep toilet paper and a roll of paper towels in your bathroom. On your side, you'll want to supervise them. Wear comfy shoes and mingle around the house, tell them about any fragile items that need special care. Tell them to ask you about things that aren't easy to pack.
on 11/22/2005 Make sure you remove trash from trash cans. Also, separate cleaning supplies. I've had BOTH packed and was NOT happy to see that at my new place.
