on 1/2/2006 Take the item and put some vegetable oil on the gum, then take a cloth and rub it. It comes off easily and quickly.

on 12/15/2005 Lay the clothing flat and take a piece of duct tape and stick it over the gum and peel it off. Repeat as many times as necessary, using fresh pieces of tape (similar to waxing). I couldn't believe how well this worked. I've tried the ice technique in the past; I won't use ice anymore.

on 11/22/2005 I used this trick when I got gum on my bedsheets. Pick out as much gum as you can with tweezers (don't use your hands or you will end up pushing the gum into the material), when there is a little bit left, get an aerosol can of deodorant or air freshener and spray the gum from about 1/2 inch away. Spray for about 30 seconds. The gum should then be frozen, use the tweezers or a blunt knife to scrape it off.

on 11/22/2005 I sat on some chewing gum which was really soft, sticky and messy. I pulled off as much as I could then several hours later decided to try some Blu-Tack on it. I repeatedly pressed a ball of Blu-Tack onto the jeans and pulled it off again and noticed that eventually the gum was sticking to the Blu-Tack and coming off. After a few minutes of doing this firmly the gum was completely gone.

on 11/22/2005 Gum can be soft or hard set -- saturate the area with GooGone (available most everywhere; citrus-based wonder). Follow the directions on the label. WAIT the recommended few minutes. The gum will roll right off. Just this a.m. I removed gobs of pink bubble gum from new white PJs and blanket. After gum removal, I agitated pink stain areas with water and Joy dishwashing soap, then laundered. Viola! So, put that ice in a tall glass, make a PB&J and forget all those other crazy ideas (just kidding, folks!)

on 10/21/2007 I tried everything else and finally found a tip to use Goof Off. It actually worked. The gum wiped right off my pants. One problem, be careful because the dye from the clothing may also rub off a bit.

on 11/22/2005 Use cooking spray oil on hard gum and scrap and tweeze until gone. Then use a degreasing dish soap on clothing and wash right away.

on 11/22/2005 First, use ice to harden the gum and pull what you can off. Rub extra strength Ben Gay onto the spot, heat with a hair dryer, and then rub out the gum.

on 11/22/2005 After removing the majority of the gum by the method described above, to get the rest of it out, try placing a moderate amount of vinegar with boiling water in a bucket, and soaking the affected clothing area in it. Intermittently take the garment out and rub the area with the gum with your hands: the gum will form small balls that can be easily removed. (Remember: Give the fabric a few seconds to cool before rubbing, as it will be exceptionally hot)

on 1/15/2008 I prefer a white or light colored cotton or Handi-wipe dish rag. To keep it that way, I soak it in a mild bleach solution.

Tip: Lay the dishcloth on he top rack of dishwasher, it comes out bright white!

on 11/22/2005 You can use any penetrating spray oil. Spray the oil on the gum. Rub the oil into the gum with a brush or your fingers. It works pretty fast, and can be used even on sweaters. Force isn't needed here, so the threads of the item stay in place. The disadvantage of this method is that you will need to wash the cleaned object afterward.

on 11/22/2005 First, remove all the gum you possibly can. Get a pair of rubber gloves, a towel or rag, and some very hot water. Rub the gum hard with the towel or rag, eventually the gum with rub off with ease.

on 11/22/2005 The product, Goof, works wonderful in removing gum from clothing. It can be purchased at your local paint store. Be sure to clean the area with dish washing liquid after applying Goof. This removes the oil stain.

on 11/22/2005 Pull off what you can get with your fingers or tweezers. Then dab with fingernail polish remover. With a wash cloth, rub vigorously until the gum comes off. After the gum is removed, rewash as usual. It should work like a charm!
